NAROWAL: In the first-of-its-kind incident, a tiger entered the houses of villagers and injured two women at Khunna village of Shakargarh tehsil, about 55 kilometres away from here, on Thursday night. Some villagers, however, caught the tiger.

Reports said a tiger entered Abdur Rashid’s house at Khunna village and injured his wife, Yasmeen, who rushed to save her infant sleeping in a room. The tiger also injured Sarwari Bibi at an adjacent house.

However, some villagers chased the tiger and managed to lock it in a room. They reported the incident to the wildlife department whose officials took the tiger away after making it senseless through an injection.

Locals believe that tigers cross over the border (with Kashmir) due to extreme weather, but this is the first incident of a wild animal’s reaching the residential area.
